Motorcycle Supplies: For a Complete and Adrenalin-Pumping Experience

Motorcycle Supplies: For a Complete and Adrenalin-Pumping Experience by David H Urmann

If you own a motorcycle, you should learn about the various types of motorcycle supplies in order for you to properly maintain your vehicle. Furthermore, understanding these products would also increase your safety while you are riding your motorcycle.

For certain individuals, nothing beats the adrenalin rush they get from riding their motorcycle. Hearing the engine roar and driving away at top speed can be very exciting and fulfilling at the same time. Moreover, one may even join motorcycle competitions, which further increase the gratification he would feel in owning this type of vehicle. And a huge part of this form of enjoyment can be obtained, provided that the motorcycle owner is aware of certain responsibilities he should have for himself and his vehicle. One of the fundamental responsibilities involves maintaining his motorcycle through acquiring a set of products that ensure its good performance and enhance its appearance.

These products are known as motorcycle supplies, and they are divided into a number of classifications. First are the motorcycle supplies that are attached directly to the vehicle and are required in order for it to start and run. These motorcycle parts include the engine, tires, breaks, clutch, exhaust utilities, controls such as handlebars and foot pegs, and devices that make up the electrical system of the vehicle. You can learn about the main functions of each of the said parts by reading motorcycle-related publications or visiting an auto shop that focuses on the said type of vehicle. The next type of motorcycle supplies is the accessory. These products are used primarily to ensure that your motorcycle is well-maintained and safe. Examples of motorcycle accessories are covers, bike stands, alarms, frames for license plates, locks, and bolt kits. Other motorcycle accessories are used to enhance the driving experience. These include iPod accessories that let you connect your portable player to a speaker attached to your motorcycle, and drink coolers that let you enjoy a cool beverage while you are on the road. Apart from this, there are also motorcycle supplies that consist of the chemicals and lubricants, which you need to apply on certain parts of your motorcycle. You need to use these products so that your engine would run smoothly and your motor will not overheat. Some of these chemicals are oil for your motor and lubricants for your chains. Other chemicals such as wax and polish are used in cleaning your motor. Moving on, another type of motorcycle supplies concerns the clothing and protective gear you has to wear while driving your vehicle. These include helmets, sunglasses and other eyewear, jackets and vests, gloves, riding pant, and boots. Protective gear and motorcycle-related apparel not only make you look “cool” but they also lessen your chance of getting seriously injured should a mishap take place.

After learning about the various types of motorcycle supplies, you need to understand certain points in order for you to make the right choice while you are in a store dedicated to the said line of products. For instance, you have to base your option according to the type of motorcycle you own. Look at supplies for sports bikes if you own such a vehicle; otherwise, search through dirt bike supplies if you own the said type of motorcycle. Also, you should narrow down your search according to the brand of your vehicle.

Motorcycle Radar Detectors

Posted by mdudley  Published in Motorcycle Accessoris

Motorcycle Radar Detectors

By Jennifer Bailey

Standard radar detectors were not built for motorcycles and were never intended to be used on them. Most detectors use an audio device to inform the driver that radar had been detected, and are therefore inappropriate for motorcycle riders because they cannot be heard. Furthermore, most have long cords and poor mounting options, not to mention the fact that they are not weatherproof. As both motorcycles and radar detectors have become more popular, however, the demand for motorcycle radar detectors has increased dramatically.

Manufacturers now produce cordless detectors with an earphone jack so that the rider can hear alerts. For instance, BEL has released a model specifically for motorcycles, while Escort and Whistler make models with earphone jacks.

Important considerations when shopping for radar include band detection, distance of detection, ability to send a jamming signal, and, of course, price. In addition to these concerns, anyone interested in purchasing a motorcycle radar detector should keep the following in mind: Does the detector come with an ear jack? Is it weatherproof, or can it be enclosed in a weatherproof container? Is the detector mountable?

The Escort Passport 8500 X50 is popular for motorcycle riders. In addition to an ear phone jack, this model is highly sensitive to X-band, K-band and Ka-band radars. When set in its “ExpertMeter” mode, this model allows the rider to see up to eight radar signals, as well as their individual bands and strengths, simultaneously. In addition, the display brightness settings include a “dark mode” for stealth use. One method of installation for this model is to tie the 8500 into the rider’s helmet speakers using a common universal stereo mini-plug patch cord. The unit can be mounted with suction cups to the windshield.

Although the niche for motorcycle radar detectors continues to grow, most models will still lack in at least one area. Thankfully, most detector retailers sell attachments that allow cordless models to be converted for use with motorcycles.

7 Custom Mirrors For Motorcycles

7 Custom Mirrors For Motorcycles

By James Gunaseelan

Custom mirrors give your bike an instant make over. They also make driving safer since they provide a good view of the traffic coming from behind. There are scores of bike mirrors available in the market today. This makes the right choice difficult. Still, you should spend some time researching the mirror that suits your bike most. Here is a short review of seven mirror brands:

1. Aeromach: Aeromach accessories are known for their radical designs and their mirrors are no different. They have six mirror styles for metric cruisers made from polished, chrome-plated billet aluminium, and feature flat glass. These mirrors are available in the standard straight arm and curvaceous sidewinder styles. They fit Buell, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Victory models.

2. Arlen Ness: Arlen Ness has a range of mirrors for all types of cruisers. It has 12 high-end billet mirror models and 13 affordably priced die-cast ones. You can get them in grooved, smooth and stepped finishes, with several different arm designs. Except for the Large CatEye and Stocker styles, these mirrors offer small viewing areas.

3. Kuryakyn: Kuryakyn’s mirrors come in a range of sizes. They are solid, have a good finish, and an adequate viewing area. These mirrors are suitable for flat or drag bars, but you need to purchase mirror adapters separately to install them on metric cruisers.

4. Highway Hawk: This is a European brand distributed in North America by Hardsteen Motorsports in New Mexico. Their chrome square mirrors have ample viewing area while The Techglide range has a smaller viewing area but is both sleek and sturdy.

5. Pro-One: Pro-has a Chrome Billet Mirror Head for Yamaha’s Star line. This installs easily on the stock mirror stems. You can get them in smooth or ball-milled styles.

6. Roadhouse Brand: Roadhouse has solid, one-piece aluminium, flat glass Billet Cruiser mirrors. These are available in two styles: Teardrop style with a curved short stem and the new Royal style — a square version of the same mirror with a straight arm. Both are available in diamond, smooth or flame finish on the back. They fit Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha cruisers or standard fitment American bikes. But do specify your bike model when ordering.

7. Show Chrome Accessories: Show Chrome mirrors are a blend of style and function. Their designs have clean back surfaces with no visual assembly screws to spoil the smooth look. They come with a 10 mm mount.
